Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It mimics the GLP-1 hormone that is released in the gastrointestinal tract in response to eating. One role of GLP-1 is to prompt the body to produce more insulin, which reduces blood glucose (sugar). GLP-1 in higher amounts also interacts with the parts of the brain that reduce appetite and signal a feeling of fullness.

A Medical Screening form is required to determine eligibility for our Semaglutide Therapy.

CAUTIONS
Cautions

  • Based on findings in rats and mice, Semaglutide may cause thyroid C-cell tumors, including MTC, in humans as human relevance of Semaglutide-induced rodent thyroid C-cell tumors has not been determined
  • In control trials, acute pancreatitis was reported (0.3 events [SC] per 100 patient years);  After initiating treatment, monitor for signs and symptoms of pancreatitis (eg, persistent severe abdominal pain, sometimes radiating to the back and which may or may not be accompanied by vomiting);  If pancreatitis is suspected, discontinue Semaglutide and do not restart if confirmed
  • Patients treated with Semaglutide showed an increased risk of diabetic retinopathy complications compared with placebo/comparator; rapid improvement in glucose control has been associated with a temporary worsening of diabetic retinopathy
  • Post-marketing reports describe acute kidney injury and worsening of chronic renal failure, which may sometimes require hemodialysis in patients treated with GLP-1 receptor agonists; a majority of reported events occurred in patients who had experienced nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or dehydration; We may require bloodwork to monitor renal function when initiating or escalating doses of Semaglutide in patients reporting adverse GI reactions

  • Serious hypersensitivity reactions (eg, anaphylaxis, angioedema) have been reported with GLP-1 receptor agonists; if hypersensitivity reactions occur, discontinue treatment, treat promptly, and monitor until signs and symptoms resolve

MED INTERACTIONS
Conflicting Medications
The following Medications can react with Semaglutide.  If you are taking these medications, you will need to consult with your physician about getting Semaglutide injections prior to starting with Hydrations Wellness:

Gliclazide, glipizide, glibenclamide, glimepiride, nateglinide and repaglinide.

These drugs are more likely to cause hypoglycemic events in diabetics who use Semaglutide for weight loss.

Precautions should be taken when using non-prescription medications as well.  Per Mayo Clininc, the medications include:

OTC medicines for: appetite control, asthma, colds, cough, hay fever, or sinus problems.

why not Tirzepatide
Why Not TIRZEPATIDE?
Tirzepatide (The active Peptide in Mounjaro™ and ZepBound™) is the newest GLP1 to hit the market.  While we love the product, the problem is it is almost 3 times more expensive than Semaglutide.  Since this weight loss therapy is one you will do over an extended period of time, we feel that providing a less expensive alternative makes it more feasible for our clients to stay on their weight loss journey with a less profound impact on their personal finances.

For those of you who have already started Trizepatide, we would be happy to convert you over to an equivalent Semaglutide dose so you can start to pay less for your weight loss.
